In-House Testing for Faster Results

Pets often hide when they are feeling sick or injured and it can be difficult to tell when they are suffering. However, you know your pet best and if you suspect they are sick or injured, don’t hesitate to bring them in to see our team at Valwood Animal Hospital! We use these test results to keep track of your pet’s health, establish a medical history, and help us to identify changes over time.

Diagnostic Testing at Valwood Animal Hospital

Our veterinary team offers the latest diagnostic testing technologies to our furry patients.

Our on site diagnostic capabilities include:

  • Blood pressure
  • Ultrasound
  • Whole body x-rays
  • Dental radiographs
  • Heartworm testing
  • Fecal and urine analysis
  • Bloodwork

Each of the above services tells us something about your pet that we wouldn’t be able to see with a physical exam. We use these services in many different combinations to help us get a complete picture of your pet’s health.

Our in-house laboratory allows us to get information quickly that can help us create a personalized treatment plan in real time to hopefully get your pet feeling better fast.

Radiology & Ultrasounds

Radiology is an important tool in our diagnostic arsenal. Both x-rays and ultrasounds are non-invasive and methods of visualizing your pet’s internal systems.

We use digital x-rays at Valwood Animal Hospital. Like traditional x-rays which are printed on film, digital x-rays are used to take images of the solid or dense parts of your pet’s body, such as bones and muscles. Digital x-rays are highly detailed still images, which means we may need to sedate your pet in order to get a clearer picture.

Ultrasounds produce real time images of your pet’s internal organs and are best used to image soft tissues. Because ultrasounds use soundwaves to take their images, ultrasounds are safe for use on delicate tissues and pregnant pets.

Both methods of radiological imaging can be extremely helpful in our diagnostic process.
